Every time I hear that part of the song it touches my soul. I like many of you have friends & family who are serving our country & I pray for them & wish they wouldn't have to do what they are doing. I recently read a story thanks to a good friend of mine about recent trend in our troops who are committing suicide. Its unfortunate, disheartening to say the least. I wish that there was more that I could do. If ever I'm out & I see someone in their BDU's (Battle Dress Uniforms the tannish green camo uniforms as they are most commonly known) whether they are on their way to basic training or coming home from a long tour I thank them. They do something that I can't do & I greatly appreciate & respect them. I get upset that in some cases they go & fight & are told one thing but in reality they are fighting for another. I keep the policlinics in their proper place & always try & thank every solider I see. I don't know if it will help them anymore or less but I do it with the hope & belief that it does. So right now I want to thank each & every one of the soldiers who have given up an easy life for one of violence, & pain. I posted something on my facebook status about 24 yr old Lindsay Lohan being a drug addicted actress & how much media attention she gets when there are soldiers who have made the ultimate scarf ice and they don't get nearly enough attention & their lives are much more significant to society. Don't get me wrong I pray that Lohan gets her life together as well but more love needs to be shown to the men & women that serve our great nation.

I had a rough morning or SO I thought. The 38C GREENTREE bus was late today, I mean like 20-30 minutes late! So I'm downtown waiting in the rain bottom of my jeans soaked, my boots soaked my sweater soggy. I'm mentally cursing out Port Authority & everyone involved with the recent cuts there. I ended up catching a 37 Ridgemont bus and walking a about a mile & a half to work in the rain. I'm walking & my leg is killing me & I'm angry I ended up being about 25 minutes late to work. I sat down logged in & after reading this article

I realize that my short walk wasn't that bad compared to what these soldiers endure on a daily basis. I get that I'm not over in Iraq in the heated sands carrying an M16 & a pack on my back that is all I have to keep me alive for as long as it can. I get that I'm going to go home today sit on my couch, kiss my kids, eat good food & make love to my wife (maybe). I'm not going to learn to sleep with my eyes open or sleep in 2-3 hour shifts IF THAT! But considering all of that COULD BE my life or worse I'm quite thankful. Next time your upset consider the fact that I bet you know someone who's situation is drastically more difficult than yours & I bet you'll feel better about that situation. I'm going to try to do my best to remember those who have given their life for us today I salute this young man

Happy GET OVER THE HUMP DAY!
If you know me or frequent this site you know I'm all about enjoying the moment so you won't catch me bashing a Wednesday. I've learned through living that NOTHING is promised not relationships, not LOVE, not TOMORROW, well GOD and that's about it. Its so important that we get to a point where Wednesday's in October as just as amazing to us as the Friday that kicks of Memorial Day weekend. Just because its not a day that you would typically party doesn't mean you can't enjoy it & it sure as heck doesn't mean you shouldn't appreciate it. We have to be just as excited about waking up Wednesday 9/29/10 as we will be the next time we get paid or the next day we have off of work or whatever day your pumped about!

My wife lost a good friend this week I want to extend my deepest & most sincere condolences to the Lojak family our prayers are with you.

That being said we all need to realize how important each day is. Please do your best to enjoy & appreciate the days you do get to see.

As you go on about your days journey take time to tell someone you love them & take these words with you as you go!

Good day all!

In planning the re-launch of the site and designing the various sections I am hoping to connect with artists. Not just those who rap or sing, I'm hoping to interview fashion designers, painters, sculptors etc. I want to display art in every media & from every genre so if you’re an artist or you know one tell them to email me walker.brandonm@gmail.com. There will be an entire section dedicated to showcasing artists. One of the main goals of brainofbmw.com is to bring you all my thoughts & views on things but to also shine a light on things that are positive. I think too often so much attention is paid to negative things that a lot of people go through life with a negative outlook. I'm not trying to save the world I'm just trying to show you there is more than one side to its coins.

 

Expect me to touch on sensitive subjects including but not limited to religion, sex, politics, drugs, the mainstream media, society in general and MANY other topics. I also plan to do interviews with artists, business owners, athletes, politicians & others. The overall goal for the site is to show people there is more to life than what you see on CNN or ESPN. I hope to do nothing more than prick your consciousness & open your mind to things new exciting as well as useful boring, sensible & traditional because who are with without good old fashioned morals & traditions? Kenny McKinley

January 31, 1987 – September 20, 2010

 

Denver Broncos family has lost another member. 23 year old wideout/kickreturner Kenny McKinley was found dead Monday in his home. I don't know much about McKinley besides he was a young athlete who was also a father. My heart goes out to the McKinley family & my prayers are with his child. NFL Week 2 Picks

 

So last week I went 10-6 not bad huh? I want to pride myself on picking the Chiefs & Texans for the UPSET! Also wanted to state that I saw the video of that Calvin Johnson catch vs the Bears...UMMM that was a catch...period. So here are my picks for this week can I improve my record? 16-0 maybe? Yes Team Walker's captain & team leader is on the PUP lists (football talk for Phyically unable to Perform & when I say perform I mean GO TO WORK!). So yes folks I'm feeling under the weather today & I was most of yesterday as well. Much love to Team Walker's Co-Captain Mrs BMW she stepped in made food for the fam & even helped entertain a guest! Yes my brother from another mother Dave came through to watch the Steeler game & break bread. Mrs BMW did her THING too! Greens baked Mac n Cheese fried chicken! I was very pleased to say the least!

The image you see (or at least I HOPE YOU SEE) is important if you notice the Pitt vs. UNH game is on ESPN3! Not ESPN U not our Local ABC affiliate ESPN3.COM! I'm all about watching TV/games online but Pitt is not a small name University. The Big East really needs to do something about the current TV contract I mean ESPN3? REALLY? Oh & I'm also upset that Pitt which was ranked #15 in BOTH polls last week lost to Utah (#24 in the coaches poll last week) in OVERTIME & Pitt drops out of the Top 25? HUH???

 

I'm going with

Pitt over UNH 38-10 expect big numbers from Pitt's offensive stars Dion Lewis & Jon Baldwin I'll go as far as to say Cam Sandler will also have at least 1 TD in this game as the Panthers bounce back from that heart breaking loss in Utah.

WVU over Marshall 45-7 I hate WVU but there is no denying this should be one sided

Alabama over Penn State 27-21 PSU are 11 point dogs and people are saying that’s not enough? I think it will be close but late game heroics from Bama's QB will put them over the top. DO NOT COUNT OUT PSU though they aren't #18 for nothing

Miami (FL) over Ohio State 28-21 (UPSET!!!!!!) I have no faith in OSU's QB Pryor I'm not feeding into his hype & this loss & a horrible game by him should bring Buckeye fans & those on the Pryor bandwagon back down to reality. ( I could be wrong…..but I doubt it!)

I have to get away from all this Port Authority madness so I'm going to give you my weekly NFL Picks. Lets see how good I do? If I go like 0-16 just remember NOBODY IS PERFECT!!!

 

 

I'm Going with The Vikings over the Saints 28-24 (call it the revenge bowl)

Bucs over the Browns 17-10

Dolphins over Bills 27-3

Patriots over Bungles BenGALS I mean that team from Cincy 35-20

Houston over Indy 21-17 (UPSET !!!!)

Denver over Jacksonville  24-14 (Tebow will play & victimize the Jags for not drafting him)

Steelers over Falcons 28-10 (Dixon has a lot to prove but the key is the Steelers D & Rashard Mendenhall)

Titans over Raiders 21-20 (this one is going to be close the Raiders D is solid)

Giants over Panthers 33-13 (the panthers can run but their QB situation is suspect)

Detroit over Chicago 27-20 (the difference will be a Stefan Logan Kick or Punt Return for TD or to set up a TD he has a chip on his shoulder after being cut by the Steelers)

Arizona over St Louis 35-13 (I could be the Cards QB vs. the Rams & throw 3 tds Jpeezy will welcome Rookie QB Sam Bradford to the NFL with a nice sack/strip)

Green Bay over Philly 42-35 (I like Aaron Rogers & I don't like the Eagles D)

49ERS OVER Seahawks 35-3 (I think the 9ers are going to scary good this year & this is a statement game the division is theirs for the taking)

Cowboys over Skins 28-21 (difference will be a TD run up the GUT by Barber why? Because Haynesworth won't be there to stop him)

After another unpleasant experience this morning using Port Authority of Allegheny County's horrible public transportation system I'm fed up! I have literally had enough! I have walked over 2 miles in the last 36 hours.  While some might see that as a good thing let me ask you if walking up hill for a mile TO work how good is that? Anyway I realized today that its time that Port Authority & the local politicians do what the voters actually want. So comment below leave your name & email address (no I'm not spamming you either) If you are tired of seeing your tax dollars get wasted and not see one thing you want/need done then comment below. I am willing to fight against this wrong doing by Steve Bland (CEO of Port Authority of Allegheny County), Dan Onorato (Chief Executive of Allegheny County), Ed Rendell (Governor of PA) along with anyone else who stands in the way of tax payers & voters getting what is right. We can not stand by & let this happen any further. Port Authority has a plan in motion to make even more cuts in January 2011 it has to stop now. We have to take stand if that means taking it back to the days of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. & boycotting the bus system altogether then we have to do it. Its an election year Onorato needs/wants our votes! We want/need a better public transportation system so lets get one! NOT once he is elected Govern either we WANT IT NOW! Comment below voice your frustrations let today be the day that they heard our voices & let this not be the last day. At the end of this all we need to stick together help each other & do what needs to be done to force change. With the impending suspension of Steelers Starting QB two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger for  4 games. I can't help but wonder whether or not I'm a PURE Yinzer through & through OR is NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell flat out nuts? Lets be clear I'm not about to try to drudge to deep into Big Ben's behavior suffice it to say I know first hand homey is a jerk. I've PERSONALLY dealt with him a time or two. The Standard is the Standard: An Ode to Mike Tomlin

"The Standard is the Standard" one of many Tomlinisms that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is known for. I have a great deal of respect for this man he carries himself with a professionalism that is unmatched. I don't delve into entertainers personal lives I'm way to busy being a married father of 4 & if I was single & childless I'd still be too busy for that. Anyway in all the interviews Mike Tomlin gives he is true to form well spoken, respectful, no nonsense, and also very careful with his words. He isn't one to pull punches as a few years ago there was a rift between he & then starting tailback (recently cut by the Washington Redskins) Willie Parker. At that time Parker was not happy with the Steelers rush offense & he had some comments with those regards for the media. When those comments came back to Coach Tomlin he said "When I walk into to work everyday I see 5 Lombardi Trophies' not 5 rushing titles" YES! ZING! POW! I LOVED that! He didn't call out Parker he respectfully put him in his place by saying HIS (Parker) goals are not larger than those of the team.

I'm slow on the Daily Mojo, not to make an excuse but I had a lot to get ready for. Today was my son Jaxon's first day of in the classroom head start!

Thinking of that just makes me realize how time is flying next thing you know he'll be going to college (GO PITT!). Events like that make you put life into perspective, being a father trumps everything else. I'm responsible for the future now! That’s big no? I could be raising the person who finds the cure for AIDS or Cancer. With that being said I can't see how a person wouldn't want to be apart of their own child's life. That’s a topic for another day. I don't really have a song today I actually woke up listening to sports radio & incase you were wondering NO I AM NOT HAPPY DENNIS DIXON WAS NAMED STARTING QB!!

Happy Monday, today is going to be a productive day for me I'm off work & I plan on getting things done around the house early then cooking this afternoon & relaxing this evening. Lets see how that goes right? So I'm up just downloaded Jermaine Dupri's new mixtape "I think I'm Berry Gordy". Everyone slept in the living room last night so I don't want to wake them all up blasting music (I'm so not like my mother!) but the song that I have heard already & do love is "Take Me Away" Ft Johnta Austin & this is the song I'm submitting for your Daily MoJovation. ENJOY! For those of you with "virgin ears" this song does contain adult language but if you can get beyond that & get into some of the more important/powerful things he is saying then you should be able to feel how I feel when I hear it.

The IRS is also concerned with the large amounts tax payers are spending in fees to get their returns back faster in the form of short term loans. So how can the GOVERNMENT HELP YOU? The plan is starting in 2011 instead of mailing paper checks the IRS will provide debit cards much like the ones most people have attached to their bank account. (see the more after the jump)

President Obama End Combat in Iraq

 Obama: US combat in Iraq over, 'time to turn page'

 After 7 years, 4,400 soliders lost & another 30,000 plus wounded President Obama has made good on a promise he made before being elected. He said throughout his campaign for the Democratic Nomination & during his eventual campaign for Presidency that he would bring home the troops. I wasn't sure how long it would take for it to happen but 2 years into his first term and he is already delivering on what seemed to be an impossible task. When I first heard the news I felt so damn good inside. I like many others have several members of my family & some friends who are in the Armed Forces and are actively fighting in Iraq or other countries around the globe. It feels good to know they will be coming home! From what I have read (because I missed the official announcement) that over the course of the rest of this year & all of 2011 troops will slowly be sent home. Ending the United States longest war in history. 

I just want to thank all the men & women who fight for our country I don't completely understand what you do but I respect & greatly appreciate your sacrifice. THANK YOU
